THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS JACKSON…MACON…AND
TRANSYLVANIA COUNTIES IN THE SOUTHERN MOUNTAINS OF WESTERN NORTH
CAROLINA.

.DAY ONE…THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS NOT EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.

..THURSDAY…LIGHT SNOW POSSIBLE. AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE AND A
STRONG COLD FRONT WILL CROSS THE REGION THURSDAY
AFTERNOON…ALLOWING SNOW TO DEVELOP AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS AND WORK
DOWN TOWARD THE VALLEY FLOORS LATE. LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE
POSSIBLE DURING THE EVENING HOURS…ESPECIALLY ALONG THE RIDGE
TOPS. IN ADDITION…VERY GUSTY WINDS WILL DEVELOP AND A FEW
DOWNED TREES WILL BE POSSIBLE.
..FRIDAY…LIGHT SNOW POSSIBLE. THE SNOWFALL AND GUSTY WINDS WILL
GRADUALLY DIMINISH THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING.
..SATURDAY…NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.
..SUNDAY…FREEZING RAIN POSSIBLE. A BRIEF PERIOD OF LIGHT
FREEZING RAIN COULD OCCUR AROUND DAYBREAK SUNDAY.
..MONDAY…LIGHT SNOW POSSIBLE. A COLD FRONT WILL CROSS THE
MOUNTAINS SUNDAY NIGHT AND ALLOW TEMPERATURES TO FALL RAPIDLY. ANY
LINGERING PRECIPITATION LATE SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY WILL FALL
MAINLY AS SNOW.
..TUESDAY…COLD WAVE POSSIBLE. A BITTERLY COLD ARCTIC AIRMASS
WILL SETTLE INTO THE REGION. WIND CHILL VALUES BELOW ZERO WILL BE
POSSIBLE TUESDAY MORNING. TEMPERATURES MAY BE 10 TO 20 DEGREES
BELOW CLIMATE NORMALS…WITH LOWS IN THE TEENS AND HIGHS IN THE
20S.
